Nutrition & Special Diets

Can you tell your fatty acids from your free radicals?

The benefits of a healthy and varied diet are indisputable. But it can be hard to separate the facts from the many myths and food fads that we are bombarded with through the press. More than ever food providers are expected to understand the link between diet and health and we can help you with this by explaining what a healthy diet really is.

It is reported that around half a million people in the U.K. currently suffer from a severe, life threatening, Food allergy. Around 1 in 100 of our population suffers from Coeliac disease and cannot eat foods containing gluten, many more suffer from food intolerances.

We have some new pieces of legislation that have brought big changes to the food industry. Developing food allergen awareness is key to complying with the Food Information Regulations 2014 and improving business. Customers need to be confident that the information provided is complete and correct and the food that is served or sold is safe to eat.

So it is vitally important that all those people who provide food for others, whether in commercial or voluntary catering services, schools and particularly in a care settings are aware of the basic nutritional requirements and the needs of those customers with special diets.

We are currently working on providing a range of online nutrition courses to add to our course list in the near future, if you would like to be informed when the new courses are released, please sign up for our newsletter below.
